When taking decisions or making choices, the safety and well being of the horses we ship is always our number one priority. That is why we only work with the most reliable airlines, the safest equipment and the most experienced people.
Preparation
Before horses can be shipped there is a lot of planning, organization and administration involved.
Depending on the health requirements of the importing country, the blood of your horse will have to be tested prior to shipment. Vaccinations must be checked. Applications for either export, transit or import permits will have to be sent. Quarantine reservations might have to be done. Export health papers and examinations need to be organized. Customs formalities both in the exporting and importing countries are to be completed.
These are only some of the worries involved with worldwide horse transportation. The experienced specialists at European Equine Services take care of all these. After all: successful shipping starts with precise planning and organization!
Insurance
All horses being shipped, handled and/or stabled by European Horse Services are supposed to be insured by the owner. Although incidents during air and road transport rarely happen, your horse represents a sizeable investment!
Should you wish EES can help you to get an insurance coverage. Basically there are two possible options:
- coverage against all risks of mortality for one year, which includes the shipment of your horse (coverage can be extended to ‘loss of use’ also)
- coverage against all risks of mortality for transportation only (tarmac-to-tarmac or stable-to-stable).
Rates depend on the countries of origin and destination, carriers used, age and use of the horse, and the value to be insured.
